Let me start by mentioning that I am not content with Florida State football having a combined 7-16 record over the past two seasons. That is not the standard of this proud program, which is wanting to accomplish conference and national championships. Head football coach Mike Norvell even mentioned on Friday night, after the loss to North Carolina State, that he knows that the standard has not been met. It is understandable why Coach Norvell is receiving criticism for his shortcomings, we all do in life when it happens. That is how adversity works. At some point, there has to be a breakthrough one way or another. As we know the administration decided to make the decision to retain Mike Norvell for the 2026 season on Sunday afternoon. With that being said, this is an opportunity to point out three reasons why keeping him was the smartest decision for Florida State.
