Stacey and Doug are a little naughty, but at least they’re honest about it. As a child, Stacey grew up spending plenty of time at her parents’ condo that sits just across the golf course from this midcentury gem by architect Maurice “Maurie” McKenzie. In the 90s, when the architect frequented the vacation home less and less, Stacey and Doug started sneaking onto the premises more and more. “We used to sneak in—which was quite easy because the gates were stuck open and no one was around—and sit in the courtyard and say, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice,’” remembers Doug. Years—and several letters, phone calls, and visits from Stacey—later, McKenzie finally agreed to sell the couple his home.
