Two West Virginia National Guard troops remain in critical condition this morning-- following a shooting attack in Washington, DC, on Wednesday. The FBI director and the DC mayor confirmed their condition. The man officials accuse of shooting the guard members is now in custody after also being shot at the scene, just blocks from the white house. He has been identified as a 29-year-old Afghan national, Rahmanullah Lakanwal. According to reports by CNN, the accused shooter's identification matches that of a man from Washington State who came to the u-s from Afghanistan in 20-21-- likely through a Biden-era operation that brought Afghan refugees to the u-s when u-s and NATO forces withdrew from Afghanistan.
