A couple from Jersey are celebrating after a new law passed which means they can now both officially appear on their son's birth certificate. The law, which passed on November 24, means that same-sex couples can both appear on their child's birth certificate. Previously, only one could appear, meaning they had fewer legal rights than mixed-sex couples. In an interview with the BBC, Jen Hopley said: "We are both parents - he is DNA and he's my egg – but, because I didn't carry him, I wasn't a parent. Now I get to be a parent." Her partner Sarah added: "I think for Jen to be legally recognised as his parent and have the same responsibilities as all other parents is just really nice." #LGBTQNews #LGBTQJoy #SameSexParents
