The fox squirrel is the largest squirrel species in Florida. An interesting fact about them is that they can even rotate their paws 180° to climb down trees headfirst! Our von Arx Wildlife Hospital is currently caring for two fox squirrels. While most are brown-gray, one of ours is melanistic, giving it a striking all-black coat with a snowy white tail tip. These two are being rehabilitated together and we hope to release them back to wild soon. 📷: Wildlife Intern, Noa R.
