Earlier this month, guests, staff, and crew aboard National Geographic Resolution joined forces for something extraordinary—a photographic inaturalistorg BioBlitz on subantarctic South Georgia Island. After disembarking at Ocean Harbor, 32 guests and staff volunteered to document as many species as possible within a set area and timeframe—from penguins strutting along the shore to the tiniest alpine plants clinging to rocks. Altogether, they recorded 1,160 observations, representing 109 species of plants, animals, and fungi. Each observation was then uploaded to iNaturalist—a global citizen science platform that contributes to real biodiversity research.
