Franklin County’s last covered bridge still stands in its original location ➡️ Built in 1887 with pine and oak, the Bergstresser/Dietz Bridge has spanned Little Walnut Creek in Canal Winchester for nearly 150 years. It used Reuben Partridge’s “triple web Partridge truss” design, a fine example of 19th-century engineering. In the 1930s, the bridge entered its busiest era as it joined State Route 674. The road was redirected away from the bridge in the 1950s, and it went back to a quiet life – serving just two addresses. Now, it’s only open to foot traffic as part of the James H.
