The first major project we get to do at our new old house is creating a temporary kitchen. When we bought the house, it had been used as a commercial space space for 50+ years, so there was no kitchen at all. We need some time to create a plan and get permits, etc. but in the meantime, we need to cook! So we built some countertops out of plywood and then wanted to do a mosaic over a desk that already existed in the space to make extra counter space that looked pretty. My mom was in town for Thanksgiving so we took on the project together and it was so much fun! It reminded us of when we made mosaic steppingstones in the backyard when we were kids (see stories for pics). Neither one of us had ever done any tiling before and it was so much fun!
