The Tokyo High Court has ruled that Japan's ban on same-sex marriage is constitutional. The court found on November 27 that Japan's refusal to legalise same-sex marriage was constitutional, with a definitive ruling expected to be brought to the Supreme Court in the coming months. Rie Fukuda, 51, a plaintiff against the Japan's decision, said after the hearing: "All we want is the same as everyone else; to marry the one we love and be happy. Are we really unworthy of legal recognition and happiness? That’s what this verdict seems to say.” Another plaintiff, Hiromi Hatogai, 60, said: “Did the judges even read the documents we submitted, or listen to our voices?
