Only 7 weeks until December 12th - our Founders Day! Seventy years ago on Dec. 12, 1954, was a legendary moment for us; it was then that Mount Snow opened with five trails, two chairlifts, and a rope tow. Originally known as Mt. Pisgah, this beautiful mountain was owned by Reuben Snow (our namesake!) until he sold the land in May of 1953 to ski area developer Walt Schoenknecht. After trekking through a foot of snow to reach the summit of 3,556 feet in early October, Schoenknecht recognized the mountain’s potential for a long ski season. In honor of Reuben Snow, he renamed the mountain Mount Snow.
As we gear up to celebrate our 70th Anniversary season, we want to hear from you. What are your legendary moments at Mount Snow? Maybe the first time you linked a turn on your snowboard, nailed a trick in Carinthia, ski/rode from the summit, got engaged, married or both! Whatever it is, we want to celebrate your moments this season too. 🎉
