Here’s what to do with “friendship icks” 👇🏼
Over the years, especially through Covid and going from my early 30s to my late 30s ...friendships have come in waves (thirtywaves 😉) And it’s normal to have
friends for a season, a reason, or a lifetime.
One thing that was groundbreaking for me this year in therapy was talking about “friendship icks.”
My therapist gave me the best advice: always try to take the high road when you can, and think about your future self: Would you want to say those things or send that text 1 month from now? 6 months? A year?
Usually things work themselves out. And good friends are hard to find, so if you’re having a bit of an issue, it’s okay to take a break or create gentle distance, kindly and respectfully, and see how it plays out.
I know in my case, a lot of icks I had in my early 30s are some of my favorite traits in a friend. The key is to realize if the joy out weighs the little icks. What do you think, and what’s a friendship ick you have? Her...
