It wasn't a matter of if Grant Taylor was going to throw over 100.0 mph but a matter of when. In the 2025 season, Taylor averaged 98.7 mph on his four-seam fastball and threw 37 pitches at 100-plus mph, the seventh highest total in the American League. He made his major-league debut on June 10, throwing a shutout inning vs. the Astros. He notched his first career strikeout on June 12 vs. Victor Caratini. Taylor made 10 consecutive scoreless appearances (9.0 IP) to end the season (8/30-), going 2-0 with two saves, two holds, 16 strikeouts (16.0 per 9.0 IP) and a 0.89 WHIP. On June 22 in Toronto, the rookie pitcher earned his first big-league save. He ranked second on the team with six saves in seven chances and averaged 13.25 strikeouts per 9.0 IP (54 SO/36.2 IP) in 36 appearances (two starts).
