It was truly traumatizing. We think a front stove knob got bumped earlier in the day before we left. The burner turned on without us knowing. When we came home, the house was filled with smoke and these boards were destroyed. We were minutes away from losing our home. This was a hard lesson, but one I want to share so others avoid it. If your stove has front knobs, check them before you leave. And never store anything on your cooktop. One small bump can turn into a major fire risk.
