Before Columbia was home to the Daniel Boone Regional Library, those in search of books and knowledge had access to reading rooms with short operating hours, small book collections and community members who wanted change. There was an early belief by Columbia locals that knowledge should be accessible to anyone in search of it. Genealogist, library associate and CoMo Preservation member Tim Dollens has traced the history of public libraries in Columbia over the decades. “Someone who comes to the library here every day, in some way, we have changed someone's life,” Dollens said.
