Traffic Stop Leads to Apprehension of Possible Drug Dealer An early-morning traffic stop in Newhall on Sunday quickly turned into a ‘drug bust’ after Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies uncovered evidence suggesting the driver was involved in narcotics sales. Deputies initially stopped the vehicle to warn and/or cite the driver for expired registration and a non-working brake light. When they contacted the driver, a 34-year-old man from Sylmar, one of the deputies spotted suspected narcotics sitting in plain view. A search of the vehicle uncovered an amount of methamphetamine equivalent to more than 200 individual doses along with a digital scale, multiple cell phones, and cash in assorted denominations. Deputies also learned the man had multiple prior narcotics-related arrests.
