Freshman quarterback Deuce Knight starred in his first start, accounting for six total touchdowns as Auburn rolled past Mercer 62–17 at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Knight opened the game with a 75-yard rushing touchdown and finished with four rushing scores (75, 51, 9, 20 yards) and two passing touchdowns, completing 15-of-20 for 239 yards and rushing nine times for 162 yards, totaling 401 yards of offense.
