Canadian quarterback Taylor Elgersma worked out for the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, per jdunk_12.
This is a scenario the strong-armed QB and his camp have been waiting for since he was released by the Green Bay Packers in August. Many NFL teams are dealing with injuries or have started looking towards the future. Elgersma is a free agent, which means franchises can bring him in the building immediately and give both sides a jump start on next season.
49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan had enough interest in Elgersma to fly him to the Bay Area. San Francisco’s northeast area scout Eric Thatcher was at his pro day in March. The Niners currently have starter Brock Purdy and backup Mac Jones on the active roster with Adrian Martinez on the practice roster.
