Behind the scenes with Steven Ferse, one of our #GrizzlyMakersChallenge Honorable Mentions! Steven spent five years crafting this massive laminated wooden basketball - 3.5 feet in diameter, 11 feet in circumference, and weighing 65 pounds! Inspired by Spokane’s deep basketball roots (home to Gonzaga and Hoopfest), he built the piece from alder, carefully bending and gluing thin resawn boards to shape. The result is a one-of-a-kind tribute to “Hooptown USA” that perfectly captures Steven’s creativity, persistence, and love for the game 👏🐻
