Join ARRAY for a rare ride in a classic Filipino Jeepney! During our recent ARRAY CIVICS CLASS event, our neighbors at the Los Angeles Pilipino Workers Center taught us how they use Jeepney rides to further their mission of securing the dignity, safety and economic stability of the Filipinx community. Thank you pwcsc for sharing this vibrant artifact and for setting an example of using art and culture to create change.

DID YOU KNOW?
At the end of the World War II, The United States military abandoned thousands of jeeps in the Philippines. Filipino communities embraced and repurposed the vehicles by decorating them with ornate designs. The Jeepney eventually became the most common form of public transportation in the Philippines and remains an iconic symbol of Filipinx culture and resilience.
