#AntoineMassey, one of the 10 men who escaped the Orleans Parish jail in May, was convicted of rape and kidnapping in St. Tammany Parish.
After more than an hour of deliberations, the jury found Massey, 32, guilty on all charges. The counts include first-degree r-pe, second-degree kidnapping, domestic abuse battery involving strangulation and violating a protective order.
The charges stem from a violent incident in November 2024 involving his girlfriend. Prosecutors said Massey beat, kidnapped and r-ped her before she reported the assault at a New Orleans hospital.
During the trial, the woman — who is now facing charges in Orleans Parish for helping Massey escape from the Orleans Justice Center recanted her original accusations on the stand, saying her earlier statements were not true.
Prosecutors argued her recantation was consistent with patterns of domestic abuse and said physical evidence, digital records and medical documentation supported the state’s case. 😳
