I know this story may surprise you, but one of our inspirations for the making of THE SMASHING MACHINE, was the 1946 classic IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (one of my top 5 all time films) Benny Safdie and I had some pretty wild and eye opening conversations about how by the end of the film - nothing has changed - except his perspective on life.
