#JSUGrad25: “‘Always do great things,’ is something I say to myself all of the time and being the only woman drum major of the J5 is definitely a testament to that. The day I found out that I would be a drum major for the Sonic Boom of the South is one of the highlights of my time here. When they announced the news at the annual band banquet, everyone rushed in, screaming with joy for me. It was a moment I will never forget. Jackson State didn’t just prepare me for the field—it prepared me for my future. When I arrived in 2021, I was a girl with big dreams, but JSU refined them into purpose. From attending the JSU High School band camp and leaving inspired to now seeing the Baby Tigers excited to cheer for me as I come up the ramp. Marching with the Sonic Boom has been a dream come true.
