21 years ago today, Randy Savage wrestled his final match at TNA Turning Point 2004.
#RIP
I remember being so amped for this as a little 13 year old who just wanted to see his favourite wrestler, the Macho Man Randy Savage.
Its crazy when you’re kid you don’t pay attention to anyone’s “work rate” or even their look that much - you’re just excited to see them because they’re a star.
I think as adults in the space - we forget that sometimes. The kids don’t care about someone’s wrestling skills or age, they just want to see their favourite wrestlers.
I had an older brother so I grew up on tapes of wrestling from 1980s and early 90s. However the Macho Man I grew up on live on television was the colourful cowboy Savage on WWF and then everything he did in WCW.
Let’s be honest 1994-1999 Randy Savage wasn’t 1985-1991 Randy Savage but it didn’t matter because he was the Macho Man Randy Savage. The character, the presence, the voice…the aura. Thats all that mattered.
He’ll always be ...
