He learned how to get back up. After being bucked off a pony as a toddler, he did not cry or stay down. He jumped right back to his feet and chased the same horse that had just thrown him. His mother, London Elie, watched in fear then. Today, she watches in awe. Now a Lebanon High junior, Jayden was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in June 2022. Doctors warned him more than once that time might not be on his side. In August, his left arm was amputated. In October, he learned the cancer had spread to his stomach. And still, in November, he is on the basketball court. He is not driven by anger or fueled by pity. He is powered by purpose.
