Campbell was pronounced deceased on December 1 at 8:03 PM, sending waves of grief through the basketball community. Standing 6’11”, Campbell spent 15 seasons in the NBA after being selected as a first round pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in 1990. His long career included stints with the Hornets, SuperSonics, Nets, and Pistons, where he reached the pinnacle of the sport by winning an NBA championship with Detroit in 2004. Former teammates and franchises he helped shape honored him following the news of his passing. Beyond the court, Campbell was a husband, father, and brother.
