Today, December 7th, marks the 84th anniversary of the attack at Pearl Harbor. The following day, Congress declared war on Japan. The Mather Airfield in Sacramento was reactivated and expanded during the Second World War as a training facility for pilots. In this video, Howard letterpress printed a quote by President Franklin D. Roosevelt about the day. The quote “A date which will live in infamy” was typeset in 72 point Caslon font. This was printed with red oil base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852.
