Please congratulate Daniel — he’s doing great two years after his open-heart surgery!
When Daniel’s mom, Diana, was pregnant in 2021, tests at another hospital revealed a fetal
#heart abnormality.
Further testing after birth showed Daniel had a transposition of the great arteries and a ventricular septal defect—two congenital heart defects—but his oxygen levels were thankfully good. At age 2, Daniel came to
#UCSF for a
#cardiac catheterization procedure with Dr. V. Mohan Reddy.
Three months later, Dr. Reddy and his team performed a successful 7-hour surgery to correct the defects and implant a pacemaker.
Daniel is now doing great and returns to UCSF for checkups every three months with his cardiologist, Dr. Ronn Tanel. Daniel’s favorite things include monster trucks, racing cars and playing outside with his sister! He turns 4 in July and loves going to preschool!
