Please send Audrey your best wishes — she’s doing great after multiple sinus surgeries, a meningitis infection and more than two weeks in the hospital! Last summer Audrey developed such a severe headache while on a college tour in Southern California, that she and her family flew home to #Berkeley to get medical care. Once the family returned home, Audrey’s primary care doctor recommended she go immediately to our #Oakland Emergency Room. Our doctors quickly performed surgery on her left sinus and a lumbar puncture to remove excess fluid. Audrey also tested positive for #meningitis, an inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. She took a course of antibiotics and anti-viral medications and also needed #sinus surgery on her right side and a PICC line for medications. Audrey was in the hospital for 17 days recovering.
