Please send Chase your best wishes — he’s now a happy 13-year-old, after having numerous heart surgeries and surviving several episodes of cardiac arrest! Chase was born with two heart conditions, a murmur and a rare congenital defect called truncus arteriosus. He had three heart surgeries as a newborn at our #SanFrancisco hospital and more as a young child. In July 2021, Chase experienced #cardiac arrest while playing video games with his siblings and was rushed to our #Oakland hospital. Our doctors implanted a defibrillator to monitor and correct his heart rhythms and started him on new medications. Chase is now in 8th grade and loves gaming and superheroes, especially Superman! #HeartWarrior #HeartMonth
