Please congratulate Harper — she's doing great after hip surgery and treatment for a neurological disorder! Harper was born with #microcephaly, a rare birth defect that causes a baby's head to be much smaller than expected, and came to #UCSF from the Central Valley for genetic testing. The results showed a genetic mutation linked to autism, epilepsy and other neurological issues, but little is known because of the condition’s rarity. After her second birthday, Harper began experiencing #seizures and our team found she also has mild cerebral palsy. Harper’s neurologist noticed a difference in her posture, and doctors at our #Orthopedic Clinic then diagnosed her with #hipdysplasia and recommended surgery.
