Let’s celebrate Ayana – she’s now a happy, bubbly 5-year-old after multiple open-heart surgeries at our hospital! Ayana came to #UCSF at just six hours old, after her local doctors noticed an issue with her heart. Our team diagnosed her with multiple congenital heart defects, including #tetralogyofFallot, and Dr. Reddy performed her first heart surgery when she was 15 days old. Ayana had another heart surgery as a baby and two more as a toddler, spending a total of 68 days in the hospital. She will need more surgeries in the future but has been out of the hospital for a year, living limitation-free! Ayana is learning to roller skate and loves swimming, dance class and board games. She recently became a big sister and started kindergarten! 🎉 #heartwarrior #chd
