Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe revealed on The Joe Rogan Experience that he was offered a job on the WWE writing team early in his comedy career, but turned it down to focus on stand-up.
On his pitch meeting with WWE: "I went in with straight up ideas... The Undertaker's brother comes back again... I went in with the whole thing. This guy's like... 'This is crazy. You just did this?' I'm like, 'Yeah, I found out a couple days ago we were going to talk.'"
On why he turned the job down: "They offered it... but I would have had to move to Connecticut and take a train to New York every night to go do stand up. And that would have just been exhausting... It would have been a no-brainer if it was in LA."
On the grind of WWE Creative: John Cena confirmed the difficulty of the role: "When you're a WWE writer... it's not like a cute job at all. There's a lot of content every week... It's like 50 segments of TV every week."
