Welcome to ALOR — a tiny remote island in Indonesia 🇮🇩 and a true hidden gem for scuba divers. It’s known for vibrant healthy reefs, diverse macro life (the tiny alien creatures my camera couldn’t capture), and the chance of big pelagics like hammerheads, whale sharks, and even blue whales — all of which made an appearance that week… just not for our boat. 😂🐋 But that’s the magic of nature — you’re never really in control. You just show up and surrender to whatever the ocean gives you each day. (Perhaps a good reminder for life don’t you think? 😉) We didn’t see whale sharks, but we were surrounded by hundreds of dolphins one afternoon. We dove slowly, noticing tiny animals I usually overlook. The weather wasn’t perfect, but we cozied up with wine and cheese, replaying every coral and fish sighting from the day.
