“With the world-class education received at WashU, graduates don’t just have the ability, but the responsibility to shape the world they want to see — and the one their communities deserve.”
Dr. Kendall Burks, stood before
#WashU25 and reflected on what it means to reach this moment — not through ease, but through resilience, love, and the strength of community.
Burks spoke of her mother’s legacy, teachers who brought joy during difficult seasons, and the importance of choosing kindness in the face of loss. Her message was both personal and universal: progress is possible when people carry each other forward.
Now preparing for residency in Boston, Burks leaves behind a call to action: Keep showing up for one another. Keep moving forward.
