For the final feature in this year’s Class Acts series, we celebrate Joshin Kumar, a McKelvey Engineering PhD whose curiosity—and compassion—are making waves in science and beyond. From studying climate-altering aerosols to developing biosensors that detect airborne pathogens, Joshin’s work is equal parts brilliant and human-centered. Now continuing his journey at WashU as a postdoctoral researcher in the Chakrabarty Lab, he’s scaling that innovation to help track and respond to public health threats faster than ever.
“Ultimately, I want my human-centric research to make a dent in climate change and help stop pandemics in their tracks. That’s the big dream!”
We’re thrilled to celebrate Joshin — and all of our remarkable
#WashU25 grads who are taking the lead to build a better world.
