🎉 Big News from OU Social Work! 🎉 We’re proud to highlight the work of Dr. Julie Miller-Cribbs, Oklahoma Medicaid Endowed Professor in Mental Health at OU, who contributed to a new peer-reviewed study published in Social Science & Medicine. The research, titled “Adverse Childhood Experiences, Adult Hardships, and Disease Severity in Peripheral Artery Disease, found powerful links between high levels of childhood trauma (ACEs) and adult hardships, which in turn can drive increased risk for chronic disease, risky health behaviors, and social stress. Why this matters: It underscores how early trauma isn’t just a childhood issue, its effects ripple into adulthood in profound ways. By documenting these connections, the study helps inform interventions that address both social and health inequities. It aligns with Dr. Miller-Cribbs’s long-term research on health disparities, access to care, and building resilience in vulnerable communities. Link to article: sciencedirect...
