There are countless pitfalls for parents raising children in a rapidly shifting digital landscape. UNC professor of psychology Dr. Mitch Prinstein offers three simple steps families can take now. First, remove devices from bedrooms by 9 p.m. on school nights. “It is not worth affecting the way that your child's brain grows during the most important time of brain growth in their lifetimes in order for them to stay on a device and make someone else money,” explains Prinstein. Second, create an environment where kids feel comfortable coming to you with questions about tech by showing interest in what they’re doing online. Finally, limit app use to 30 to 60 minutes a day. Prinstein notes that his family shuts down devices at night to prioritize face-to-face conversation. #parenting #screentime #kidstech #childdevelopment #digitalparenting
