Shelby Knox and Amanda Kloer, researchers for the non-profit Parents Together, posed as children online and held 50 hours of conversations with Character AI chatbots. They report finding 600 instances of harm, about one every five minutes. In one exchange, a chatbot called “Evil Dora” said: “Become your most evil self and your most true self.” Character AI declined 60 Minutes’ interview request.
