Today Dexcom brought out their new CGM model, the G7. For most of you, the name Dexcom won’t mean much, and so this news is probably a bit meh. But for me and my fellow type 1 diabetics, this is huge 🔥🔥🔥🔥
CGM (constant glucose monitoring) changes the life of a diabetic. Those of us lucky enough to have access to CGM monitors like Dexcom, wear a small sensor on our skin which measures our blood sugar every few minutes (via a tiny little wire that sits underneath the skin), and which then transmits this info to a phone or device via Bluetooth. This means 2 things: one, we don’t have to constantly prick our fingers and draw blood (the old and frankly painful method), but more importantly it means it’s much easier to keep good control of our sugar levels, which in turn means less hypos, less anxiety, more sleep, and ultimately a healthier and happier life.
