Jiamusi, in China’s northeast, has set a world record with a temporary straw-bale maze spanning more than 12,400 square meters. Drone footage from Sunday – many of them children – climbing along the maze walls and playing on the ice-covered field at its center.
Locals described the site as a welcome escape in the winter cold, praising its atmosphere and the pride it brings to the city. The maze, opened free to the public, was officially recognised on November 28 as the world’s largest temporary straw-bale maze. Built from thousands of rice-straw bundles, it transforms agricultural waste into a large-scale piece of environmental art.
