Auburn officially hired its newest head coach on Sunday, signing former USF head coach Alex Golesh to an incentive-laden six-year deal. Golesh’s base salary will average $7.4 million per year, according to a copy of the terms sheet obtained by AL.com. His salary will start at $6.75 million, but his deal features a $250,000 escalator after each year. By comparison, former Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze had a base salary of $6.5 million per year. Notably, there is no bonus for simply reaching a bowl game, a difference from Freeze’s contract. Golesh’s contract is loaded with incentives too. He can make up to an extra $5.5 million per year from regular season win bonuses alone.
