December 12th is National Salesperson Day! This day recognizes those who work in sales and the extra work they do around the holidays. While we are not sales people, we do have some marketing materials a newspaper would use on behalf of a salesperson. For today, Jared letterpress printed a large old newspaper ad for Breuner’s.
Breuner & Company was founded by John Breuner, a German immigrant, in 1856 during the California Gold Rush. The first store was located at 6th and K Streets in Sacramento, where the Golden 1 Center in the Downtown Commons is today. Once serving Sacramento as a furniture manufacturer and repair shop, Breuners expanded and operated in several states across the southwest. The company was in operation for 148 years before closing in 2004. This electrotype, made in the 1960s, was printed with green rubber base ink using our Washington hand press.
