Tyler, The Creator returned to Hawthorne High School last Friday, surprising the senior class with an unexpected appearance during what students thought was a routine spirit rally.⁠ ⁠ The Hawthorne native attended the school in 2005-2006 before founding Odd Future and launching his career. Tyler shared memories with the students of his time there, which included “doodling on his pants, rap battling in the courtyard, and skating down El Segundo Boulevard with dreams of being famous.”⁠ ⁠ The visit was hosted by Apple Music after naming him Artist of the Year. It culminated with Tyler channeling Oprah’s energy and gifting every senior an iPad Pro.
