With his team trailing by two points and one second left on the clock, Tommy Steyert trotted onto the field for a 47-yard field-goal attempt with the Long Island Class IV title on the line.
“It was nothing I haven’t kicked before in practice,” he said. “I just went out there and did exactly what I do for a PAT.”
Before he knew it, he was engulfed by a sea of Phantoms on the other side of the field.
Steyert’s kick split the uprights with plenty of room to spare, giving Bayport-Blue Point a 20-19 win over Seaford.
