Happy International Tea Day from the Rubin! Tea holds an important place in daily life across the Himalayan region. Today we are highlighting a Tibetan tea cup with stand and lid that is currently on view in the Rubin Museum Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room at the Brooklyn Museum (brooklynmuseum). A finely crafted piece from the 18th to 20th century, this tea cup is made of silver and metal alloy and reflects the high level of skill found in many functional objects from the region. It’s the perfect vessel for a delicious butter tea! 🍵 Visitors can see it within the immersive Rubin Museum Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room installation at the Brooklyn Museum, where artworks and ritual objects are arranged as they might appear in a traditional household shrine. ________ Tea Cup Stand with Lid; Tibet; 18th - 20th century; metal alloy, silver; Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art, Gift of Ralph Redford; C2008.30.1a-b #RubinMuseum #InternationalTeaDay #HimalayanArt
