Rob Reiner was born in the Bronx and grew up in a home in New Rochelle — not far from Michael Leeds, who recalled the actor and director was a smart kid. The two went to school together for six years, and Leeds remembered the day his friend announced he was moving out west. "Robbie at the bus stop came up and told us his dad had taken this new job, and they would be moving to California," said Leeds. That job was for his father, Carl Reiner, who was a writer for the "Dick Van Dyke Show," which helped put New Rochelle on the map. The community there was reeling after Rob Reiner's death at his home in Los Angeles over the weekend. "I think he had a regular sense, a good sense of humor.
