These 14 strangers showed politicians how it’s done… In Texas’ capital, 14 people from across the political spectrum came together to tackle healthcare challenges that are top of mind for many Americans. During our latest Citizen Solutions session, this broadly representative group worked with policy experts and facilitators to explore their own healthcare experiences and brainstorm ways to make the system work better. Over three jam-packed days, they created a variety of common ground proposals aimed at increasing access to care, growing the healthcare workforce pipeline, reducing system complexity, and increasing transparency. Everyone kept saying, “This is just the beginning”—and they’re right. The state legislature doesn’t meet again until 2027, giving this group time to refine their proposals.
