China on Saturday held a ceremony in Nanjing to mourn the victims of the Nanjing Massacre 80 years ago. A flag-raising ceremony was held at the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders. After the flag-raising, the flag was lowered to half-mast. Residents across the city of Nanjing observed one-minute silence as air-raid siren sounded across the city. The People’s Liberation Army soldiers lay wreaths in tribute to the victims of the massacre.⁣ ⁣ The Nanjing Massacre took place after Japanese forces captured Nanjing, then the Chinese capital, on Dec 13, 1937 and began six weeks of slaughter, looting and rape that claimed the lives of more than 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers.⁣ ⁣ #NanjingMassacre #PLA #China #WWII #Japan
