PHOTOS: Mourners gathered at Saxthorpe Methodist Church for the funeral service of Dorothy Pine-McLarty, esteemed Jamaican attorney and public servant, whose legacy helped shape the nation’s modern electoral system. Among those in attendance were her husband Herman McLarty, seen being comforted by a friend, her children Rachel and Matthew, along with extended family, colleagues, and friends who came to pay their final respects.
Pine-McLarty was a pioneer in Jamaican law — the first female partner at Myers, Fletcher & Gordon — and later made history as the first female Chair of the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ), where she played a key role in modernising electoral processes and strengthening democratic governance. Her decades of service earned her the Order of Jamaica (OJ) and widespread national respect.
