The Virginia A. Groot Foundation, established in 1988 by Candice B. Groot in honor of her mother, supports artists working in three-dimensional media through annual unrestricted grants in three tiers ($60,000, $30,000, and $20,000) to help fuel creative growth. These grants allow artists to dedicate time to new work, explore materials, pursue research, or take on ambitious projects that advance their practice.
Open to artists 21 and older who are not currently enrolled in a degree program, the Groot Grants support independent, self-directed work at any stage of an artist’s career. Beyond individual funding, grootfoundation also contributes to residencies, initiatives, and publications that uplift the world of sculpture and three-dimensional art.
